Getting started

9 questions
What is GuideMyGrades?

GuideMyGrades provides affordable, structured online GCSE and A-Level programmes built around four connected parts: two live specialist lessons per teaching week, a recording of every lesson, module assessments, and all documents and resources shared on Google Drive.

Every programme is taught by a qualified classroom teacher with school experience, subject expertise and a clear understanding of the relevant examinations. Economics is live now, and English, Maths, Chemistry and Physics start from 17 October. Psychology is coming soon and cannot yet be booked.

You can see how lessons work or meet our teachers before deciding whether the programme is right for your child.

How will we receive lesson links, recordings and resources?

Your booking confirmation email contains the Google Meet link, days and times for each programme you book.

Lesson recordings, resources and module assessments are shared with enrolled families through Google Drive. Access is view-only and limited to the families enrolled in that class. Nothing is published publicly.

There is no account to create and no app to install. If you ever cannot find something, email info@guidemygrades.com and we will re-send it.

Why choose GuideMyGrades instead of one-to-one tuition?

One-to-one tuition can be valuable, particularly for students who need highly individualised support. GuideMyGrades offers something different: expert teaching across the academic year in focused, structured classes.

Our programmes are taught by qualified classroom teachers with examiner experience. Lessons follow a clear cycle of teaching, questioning, application, exam practice and live feedback, rather than simply working through worksheets.

Every lesson runs with student cameras and microphones off throughout, and the monitored chat open for written questions and answers. Recordings contain the tutor and shared teaching content only, so no child’s face or voice is recorded.

Every lesson is recorded for enrolled students, giving them flexibility when attendance is impossible and a focused revision tool when an explanation needs another look. Live attendance remains important because recordings cannot reproduce live questioning, practice or feedback.

Each programme also follows a published 2026/27 Curriculum Map, with module assessments to check understanding as the course progresses.

Group teaching also makes access to experienced specialist teachers considerably more affordable than equivalent one-to-one tuition.

GuideMyGrades is not simply cheaper one-to-one tuition. It is a structured programme combining specialist teaching, recordings, assessment, parent visibility and year-round exam preparation.

Are lessons online?

Yes. Every lesson is taught live through Google Meet.

Students join from home using their programme link and participate as the lesson takes place.

This is active teaching, not a recording-only library. Students answer questions, complete written work, apply their knowledge and receive feedback during the live session. Every lesson is also recorded for enrolled students to catch up or revisit it afterwards.

Visit How Lessons Work to see the teaching sequence.

Who actually teaches the lessons?

GuideMyGrades is teacher-led. It is not a tutoring marketplace.

Our programmes are taught by our two founders, Mr A Hudha (Physics) and Mr E Hudha (Economics), and our three subject leads, Ms N Yasmin (English), Mr M Adan (Maths) and Mr M Khan (Chemistry). All five are qualified classroom teachers who also teach professionally in schools.

Read about their qualifications, experience and subjects on the Who Teaches You page.

When do programmes start?

Economics is already running: its lessons began on Thursday 1 October 2026. English, Maths, Chemistry and Physics lessons begin from 17 October 2026, on each programme’s usual lesson days (see the Timetable). Every programme ends on 30 June 2027 and runs whatever the group size, so you can book online now and your child joins their first scheduled lesson.

Your booking confirmation email includes the lesson link, days and times. There are no lessons in July or August. The next academic-year calendar begins in September 2027; its exact dates will be published once confirmed.

Every teaching week and planned holiday is listed in the Academic Calendar. You can also book later in the year and join the next scheduled lesson.

Can my child join a live group class partway through the academic year?

Yes. You can book online at any point in the year. Your child joins the next scheduled lesson after you pay and follows the rest of the calendar through 30 June 2027.

Before booking, check the point the group has reached in its Curriculum Map. Topics already taught are not repeated live, but your child can catch up on them using the lesson recordings.

If you are unsure whether a class suits your child’s exam board or set texts, ask us before you book. Asking is free.

Will you open more groups if demand is high?

Yes. If demand is high, we will consider opening additional live groups at other times, subject to teacher availability.

For Year 13 subjects, additional groups may also allow us to provide more specialist teaching for students following the same exam board.

Complete the enquiry form and tell us the subject, year group, exam board and times that would suit your child. We will record your interest and contact you when a suitable class is available.

Any new lesson times will be added to the Timetable once they are confirmed.

Is there a minimum group size before lessons start?

No. Every programme runs however many students have joined: Economics since 1 October 2026, and every other programme from 17 October 2026. You do not have to wait for a group to fill before your child starts.

You can see every programme, with its teacher, days and times, on the Subjects page and add it to your basket there.

Programmes & exam boards

5 questions
Which year group should my child join for GCSE?

Most students in our GCSE programmes will be in Year 10 or Year 11.

A younger student may also be suitable if they have already started studying GCSE content. Placement is based on what is being taught rather than a strict age cut-off.

Use the Curriculum Maps to see the current point in each course.

If you are unsure, contact us before enrolling and we will help you choose.

Is GCSE/IGCSE Physics suitable for Combined Science students?

Yes, when the topic forms part of your child’s Combined Science specification.

Our GCSE and IGCSE Physics teaching supports Separate and Triple Science students, and covers the Physics content within Combined Science too.

Combined Science does not include every Separate Science Physics topic. Check the Curriculum Map before joining the programme.

If you are still unsure, send us your child’s exam board and course details.

Which exam boards do you support?

Exam board support depends on the programme.

English. GCSE English supports AQA and Pearson Edexcel. A-Level English Language and Literature follows the Pearson Edexcel specification.

Physics. GCSE and A-Level Physics follow Pearson Edexcel, and IGCSE Physics follows Pearson Edexcel International.

Maths and Chemistry. GCSE Maths and GCSE Chemistry follow Pearson Edexcel.

Economics. Year 12 and Year 13 both follow Pearson Edexcel A only.

Where a programme supports more than one board, the shared content is taught together and cross-referenced against the relevant specifications. We use a mixture of supported exam boards’ question styles interchangeably so students develop adaptable understanding and exam technique.

The exact board for each cohort is shown on the Subjects page before enrolment.

How are English Literature set texts covered?

English Literature teaching must match the set texts your child is studying.

The supported texts are made clear before enrolment. We do not claim that one class can cover every possible text at the same time.

Lessons combine knowledge of the text with interpretation, analytical writing and the exam technique required by the specification.

If your child studies a different text, contact us before joining so we can confirm whether the programme is suitable.

Can I see what will be taught before I join?

Yes. Our Curriculum Maps show the topic sequence for each programme, month by month, against the 2026/27 teaching calendar, and each one can be downloaded as a PDF. All 2026/27 teaching ends in the final teaching week, on 27 June 2027.

The specification is organised across six half-term teaching blocks. More time is given to difficult or high-value areas.

Exam practice, modelling and feedback are included throughout the year rather than being saved until the end.

Lessons & teaching

6 questions
How long is each lesson, and how many are there?

GCSE lessons last 30 minutes. A-Level lessons last 40 minutes.

Every programme meets twice in each teaching week, from its first lesson (Economics from 1 October 2026, every other programme from 17 October 2026) until the final teaching week, which ends on 27 June 2027. Teaching weeks and holidays are listed in the Academic Calendar. If your child joins later in the year, they receive the scheduled lessons remaining from the date you book.

Check the Timetable for the exact weekly schedule.

Each session is deliberately focused. Students think, write, answer questions and apply knowledge throughout rather than listening passively.

Visit How Lessons Work to see how the available time is structured.

Do classes take place during half-term holidays?

No. Regular classes do not take place during the half-term, Christmas or Easter closures shown in our published calendar.

These planned breaks are already built into the academic calendar, and no lessons are missed because of them.

Check the Academic Calendar for every teaching week and planned holiday. The Timetable shows when each subject is normally taught.

How large are the groups?

Groups are small. Every programme runs whatever its size, and groups can grow as more families join.

Lessons remain structured through direct questioning, written work and the monitored lesson chat. We will review our teaching arrangements as demand grows so that lessons remain focused and well managed.

If demand is high, we may open additional groups at other suitable times. You can read more on the How Lessons Work page.

What does a lesson actually involve?

Every lesson follows a clear teaching sequence.

Do Now Teach Check / Live Feedback Guided Exam Practice.

Students retrieve previous knowledge before learning new material in manageable steps.

They answer questions, write independently and apply what they have learned. Students can paste complete answers into the monitored chat, allowing the teacher to select responses and give live verbal feedback that every participant can hear and apply. Exam-style work and feedback are included so students practise using their knowledge as well as remembering it.

Short, purposeful homework may consolidate the lesson or prepare students for the next one. Tasks are shared through Google Drive.

See the full process and teaching examples on the How Lessons Work page.

My child has SEN or an additional learning need. Can you support that?

Yes, within what a live, online group lesson can reasonably provide.

All GuideMyGrades tutors are SEN trained, and our lesson format, with student cameras and microphones off throughout and questions handled through the chat, gives teachers regular, direct opportunities to question students and identify misunderstandings during the lesson.

Support may include breaking instructions into smaller steps, rephrasing explanations, allowing additional processing time and reinforcing key points in writing.

Please tell us about your child’s needs before the first lesson so their teacher can prepare appropriately.

GuideMyGrades is not a specialist SEN or SEND provision. Formal access arrangements, such as extra time, a reader or a scribe, must be approved through your child’s school or examination centre.

Are lessons recorded, and what happens if my child misses one?

Yes. Every live lesson is recorded in Google Meet and shared view-only through Google Drive with the families enrolled in that class. Recordings are not public and are not offered to non-enrolled users. Recordings are deleted after 31 August 2027.

If your child cannot attend, they can use the recording and associated materials to catch up before the next lesson. They can also replay a difficult explanation later as part of revision.

A recording is not an individual catch-up lesson and cannot reproduce live questioning, written practice or immediate feedback, so students should attend live whenever they can. Missed lessons are not refunded.

The recording captures the tutor’s teaching and shared lesson content only. Student cameras and microphones stay off throughout, the lesson chat is not included in the published recording, and no child’s face or voice is recorded.

At checkout, before payment is completed, the parent or guardian must actively consent to the recording arrangements. That consent is separate from optional marketing consent. Our Privacy Notice explains how recordings are stored, who can see them and when they are deleted.

Visit the Pricing page for full details of what is included.

When will I be charged?

The Welcome Offer (£24 for GCSE, £48 for A-Level) is taken when you book. After that, the standard monthly price (£40 or £80) is taken automatically on the 1st of each month.

The Welcome Offer covers the rest of the month you book in, and standard payments start on the 1st of the following month.

The checkout shows the amount due today and the date of your first standard payment before you pay. Stripe emails you a receipt for every payment.

Can I book more than one programme, or more than one child?

Yes. Add each programme to your basket and pay once. Each programme has its own Welcome Offer and appears as its own line, and the monthly payments are collected together on the 1st of the month.

Each booking is for one student. For a second child, please complete a separate booking with their name and year group.

You can cancel any single programme without affecting the others.

What happens after I pay?

You return to a confirmation page showing your booking reference. We then email you a confirmation with the Google Meet link, days and times for each programme, and Stripe emails your payment receipt separately. If the confirmation email has not arrived within a few minutes, please check your junk folder, then email info@guidemygrades.com quoting your reference.

Your child joins using the Meet link at the lesson time, with their first name as the display name and their camera and microphone off.

How do I update my card, or what happens if a payment fails?

You can update your card or download your receipts at any time on your secure billing page. Sign in with the email address you booked with and Stripe will email you a one-time code.

If a monthly payment does not go through, Stripe emails you and tries again automatically over the following days. Your child’s place is not withdrawn without us contacting you first.

Will I keep being charged after my child’s exams?

No. The final programme payment is in June 2027 and payments then stop automatically. The programme ends on 30 June 2027. There are no lessons or programme payments during July and August, and the programme does not renew automatically into 2027/28.

What if I want to stop earlier?

You can stop an individual programme at any time by emailing orders@guidemygrades.com before its next payment is due. Please include your booking reference and the programme you are cancelling. We will stop that programme’s monthly payment and confirm by email. There is no notice period or cancellation fee. Outside the statutory 14-day cancellation period, access continues until the end of the month already paid for.

You also have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of booking. Our Terms and Conditions explain how a refund is worked out if lessons have already taken place.

If you remain enrolled, you do not need to cancel at the end because payments stop automatically after June 2027.

How do the PDF downloads work?

Our Examiners’ Edition PDFs are a one-off payment of £1 each, with nothing monthly. You can download them straight after paying, and the link is emailed to you as well.

If a PDF will not open or download, email info@guidemygrades.com with your order reference and we will put it right.

How do I pay?

Add the programmes you want to your basket from the Subjects page, then check out. You pay by card on Stripe’s secure payment page. GuideMyGrades never sees or stores your card details. You receive a confirmation email with your lesson links straight away.

The 2026/27 programme is paid monthly. All charges are made in GBP. Any AED price shown on the website is an approximate conversion for guidance.

Is affordability part of your mission?

Yes. GuideMyGrades exists to help our community, and we never want finances to be the reason a student misses out on the right teacher. That is why affordability sits at the heart of how we price our programmes.

It is why the Welcome Offer works out at a low per-lesson price, and why every subject is priced the same for its qualification, with no premium for one over another.

Safety & data

5 questions
Are your tutors DBS checked and qualified?

Yes. All current GuideMyGrades tutors are qualified, full-time classroom teachers.

Every tutor holds an Enhanced DBS check, has completed safeguarding training and works within clear professional boundaries.

Tutors do not privately tutor pupils whom they currently teach in their own school classroom.

Read about each teacher on the Who Teaches You page. You can also review our formal Safeguarding Policy.

What do you do with my data?

We collect only the information reasonably needed to manage enquiries, enrolment, communication and teaching.

This may include parent and student contact details, programme information and relevant learning information. When you book, your details and payment are handled by Stripe, our payment provider. Lesson recordings and resources are held in Google Drive.

We do not sell personal data to advertisers. Access is limited to the information needed to operate the service appropriately.

Our Privacy Notice explains what we collect, why we collect it, how it is handled and how to contact us about your data.

How do I get in touch, and how quickly will you reply?

Email info@guidemygrades.com or message us on WhatsApp. We aim to reply within 48 hours.

This is for short questions about lessons, the timetable, booking or payments. It is not a one-to-one support service, so please do not expect an ongoing conversation. Questions about the lesson content itself are best asked in the live lesson chat, where the teacher can answer for the whole group.

Teachers do not communicate with students through personal email accounts, telephone numbers, social media, direct messages or gaming platforms.

These boundaries protect students, families and teachers. They are explained in our Safeguarding Policy.

How do you keep students safe during online lessons?

Every current GuideMyGrades teacher holds Qualified Teacher Status, has an Enhanced DBS check and has completed safeguarding training.

Lessons take place through approved teaching platforms and teachers follow clear professional boundaries. Student cameras and microphones stay off throughout, and students take part in writing through the monitored chat. Recordings contain the tutor and shared teaching content only, so no child’s face or voice is recorded.

If anything about a lesson concerns you, email info@guidemygrades.com and mark the message for the attention of the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Read our Safeguarding Policy for the complete procedures and contact details.

Can I see, correct or ask you to delete my personal data?

Yes. You can ask what personal information we hold, request a correction or ask us to delete information where the law allows.

Email info@guidemygrades.com with your request. We normally respond within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity before releasing information about a child.

Our Privacy Notice explains your rights, how long information may be retained and how to raise a concern.
